Retirement of Megan Richardson, DMC Director
27 April 2022
Megan Richardson, Director of Digital Museums Canada (DMC), will be retiring at the end of this month.
During her seven-year tenure as Director, Megan has overseen a major renewal of this important national program, which invests in online projects by Canadian museums and heritage organizations, helping them build digital capacity and share stories and experiences with their audiences. She has presented at museum and heritage conferences across the country and internationally and has led the DMC team in supporting the development and launch of nearly 200 online projects on diverse subjects, for a wide range of users.
Megan has devoted more than 30 years to national museums, developing and leading key initiatives that support meaningful connections among people and collections. Her wide-ranging professional expertise, her audience-centred collaborative approach, and her commitment to building capacity within Canada’s museum community have contributed greatly to her success as Director of DMC.
Although we will miss working with Megan, we are pleased to announce that Leah Resnick (she/her) will be joining us as the new Director of Digital Museums Canada. Leah comes to us from the National Gallery of Canada and has significant experience as a transformative leader within the field. Leah has led numerous high-profile cultural initiatives, including exhibitions, acquisitions, grants, commissions, festivals, community engagement and art prizes. She champions the power of digital, accessibility, diversity, inclusion and sustainability in museums. Leah, with the support of the experienced DMC team, will ensure a seamless continuation of this important program.
Please join us in thanking Megan for her outstanding work on behalf of Digital Museums Canada, and in extending a warm welcome to Leah.
