Exploring the arrival of the Second World war in Newfoundland, this exhibit tells the story of two German U-boat attacks off the coast of Bell Island. Shocked by the sinking of four Allied ships, and the deaths of 65 sailors, Bell Islanders sprang into action, rescuing and caring for the survivors. Today, the graves of seamen and haunting wrecks on the ocean floor attest to an event that left an indelible impact on the small community.
